The journey of skill excellence moved to the tech and innovation hub of the South. We are proud to share that Vineet Raj Kapoor, Director of Chandigarh Design School (CDS), was invited to lead as the Chief Expert for Industrial Design Technology (IDT) at the IndiaSkills South Regionals held in Hyderabad.
Set against the serene and inspiring backdrop of Kanha Shanti Vanam, the competition brought together the finest young minds from across Southern India. As Chief Expert, Vineet Raj Kapoor was responsible for overseeing the technical integrity of a category that sits at the very heart of the “Make in India” initiative.
The Intersection of Engineering and Art
Industrial Design Technology (IDT) is one of the most demanding categories in the IndiaSkills arena. It requires a rare blend of technical engineering, aesthetic sensibility, and ergonomic logic. Under Vineet Raj Kapoor’s leadership, the South Regionals focused on:
-
CAD & Surface Modeling: Assessing the competitors’ ability to create precise digital blueprints.
-
Functional Prototyping: Evaluating how well a concept translates into a physical, manufacturable product.
-
Design Thinking: Testing the students’ ability to solve real-world problems through innovative product design.
Bringing Southern Excellence to the North
The South Regionals witnessed a “photo-finish” competition, particularly from the Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC), which produced a high number of champions.
“The level of precision I witnessed in Hyderabad was truly world-class,” said Vineet Raj Kapoor. “Leading these regionals allows us to bridge the gap between regional talent and national expectations. At CDS, we take these high-level insights and integrate them directly into our training modules, ensuring our students are always ahead of the curve.”
Why This Matters for the CDS Community
When the Director of your school is the one defining the national standards for Industrial Design, your education is no longer just “academic”—it is authoritative. Students at CDS benefit from knowing exactly what the industry (and the national jury) expects, from the initial sketch to the final 3D-printed prototype.
This successful stint in Hyderabad further solidified the path for the champions who would soon arrive at the CDS campus for their final “finishing school” experience before the National Finals.
